Any waterproofing membrane consists of two main components: bitumen and reinforcement. Foundation waterproofing - bitumen. Natural bitumen used for waterproofing since ancient times.

In the early twentieth century in the UK have developed a method for improving the properties of bitumen by cleaning it and blowing air at high temperature. Obtained in this process, the material called OXIDISED bitumen.

Oxidized bitumen was widely used for a long time, until the beginning of 50-ies, when in Italy and France at the same time, scientists began to look for methods to improve the performance of waterproofing and roofing materials. The result of their work were POLYMER-BITUMEN MEMBRANES whose composition includes demineralized bitumen with various additives and modifiers, reinforcing material. As these modifiers are used:

ATACTIC POLYPROPYLENE (APP modification)

STYRENE-BUTADIENE-STYRENE (SBS modification)

As a material of reinforcement use:

FIBERGLASS. Durable material, does not rot, is widely used in the early production of membranes. Materials reinforced fiberglass are most suitable for repair of old roofs and for multi-system construction of new roofs.

POLYESTER (non-woven or spun). The most modern material for reinforced polymer-bitumen membranes. The material has high strength and load at the same time stretched or compressed with a bituminous compound, without compromising the integrity of the waterproofing coating.
